The Lilac Breasted Roller is almost as common in Kenya as the English Sparrow is in New York. They catch insects on the wind. This little guy just had a dust bath.
The stork benefits from the deer's ground pawing because it exposes insects that the stork eats. To my eyes this pairing was quite comical looking and I love the name Lesser Adjutant Stork.
Very visible on bare branches or wires, these beautiful birds fly to the ground to catch their food. They are attracted to fire. We watched as a park employee burned leaves and these birds had a feast of the insects that lept out of the smouldering mass.
